A quarter century or so ago I was invited to do the narration for “South Africa Belongs To Us”, a documentary that featured South African women telling their side of the apartheid story. It was not only an honor to take an active part in their struggle, but it introduced me to a new love that is even stronger today – voice over.

Since that chance beginning, I have done many commercials including PG&E, Mogen David, Pacificare, Treasure Island Resort, Union Bank, AM/PM Mini Marts and most recently Cellular One (as Jamaican Miss Ramona) and Corona Light Beer (as a Cajun psychic).

My character voice work includes independent features, videos and video games. I have portrayed a Grandmother, a whale, the moon, the sun, a turtle, a babboon, a giraffe, a crow, a donkey, Sojourner Truth and many other historical figures and fictional characters. My favorite was as The Judge in the video game “Of Light and Darkness”.

I have narrated many different projects since that first one in 1979 – everything from a historical video on the Mississippi River Delta to a technical video on battle ship radar equipment I produced, directed and narrated a series of 13 radio shows, each one featuring an African folktale and a moment in Zimbabwean history for ZBC Radio One (nationally broadcast). I produced a project through the Los Angeles Cultural Affairs Department to air these stories on public radio in Southern California (KPFK).

I am a past Co-Chair of the Los Angeles WOMEN IN ANIMATION Voice Over Group and I am still an active member of that body. I am represented by Arlene Thornton & Associates (818) 760-6688. My love affair with voice over continues…
